Dancing

Jazz Music

Men had just returned home from the war and back to their wives and girlfriends. So what did many of the youth turn to during their free-time? Dancing.  This was all the rage of the generation. Dancing kept people active, made them laugh and smile, and most of all, dancing created a whole new way to meet people and to be close to them. The people who loved this kind of dancing the mos was the new woman, Flappers. These women wanted to rebel against the older generation and dancing was the answer. The youth started to dance provocatively by kicking their legs and shaking their arms. The Flapper did everything possible to move as much and as wildly as possible and to show off her legs. There were many new forms of dancing. Some of the most popular and famous dances included The foxtrot, The Shimmy, The Bunny Hug, The Black Bottom, and The Charleston.
